Some History
I’m the one who created and has nurtured this site since 2001. It’s hard to believe it’s been over a decade, but there has never been a shortage of people struggling with addiction in need of help.
For almost half of my life I have been actively involved in counseling, teaching, consulting and doing research on addiction, and I’m proud that it has become a central focus of my life’s work.
My Credentials
For those interested in my credentials, I’m a psychologist, Licensed Professional Counselor, and Certified Addiction Specialist, with a master’s degree in counseling psychology and a doctoral degree in systems science and social psychology.
- On Faculty in the Department of Psychiatry at Oregon Health & Sciences University
- Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Systems Science Graduate Program at Portland State University.
- Member of the American Psychological Association and the American Academy of Health Care Providers in the Addictive Disorders.
